FLYBALL IN CZECH REPUBLIC

The majority of people who started to train Flyball in previous years applied oneself to agility, obedience, defence or rescue work.

Flyball was brought to our country by Antonin Grygar, who came across this sport in Belgium at agility competition. 2 years in a row at agility competitions a serial „Pedigree Cup“ was taking place. When this Cup expired also the Flyball competitions were expired or were almost not hold anymore.

Year 2003

In the spring of this year Míla Vrbová suggested cheekly – to set together the first Czech outfit for the European Flyball Championship. The team Hop Trop Prague originated on this basis and was set up from those, who were participated in Flyball racing (though on the all box type). The Chapmionship was hold in the Netherlands and our team became the winner of 4th division!

In the late of August at the agility competition called „Night Sketches“ an unofficial race was hold. This race was organised to show how these races are done in countries where Flyball is not new and where the dog specialist can be seen.

Czech Republic Flyball Club was founden on September 7, 2003.

During winter season three one-day educational meetings for Flyball beginners were organised.

Year 2004

Two Czech teams were sent to The European Flyball Championship taking place in Belgium – team Hop Trop Prague and new team named Dream´s Family. Hop Trop Prague became winners of the 6th division during both days and Dream´s Family team were on the 3rd place in the 4th division, but this team reached the new Czech team record of 18,70 s. 

Year 2005

The first Flyball tournament the Czech teams were participating on was in the spring of 2005 The Championship of Poland hold in Katowice. Dream´s Family team became the Champion of Poland, Hop Trop Prague team was on the 2nd place in the row. The cross breed dog named Tim won in not very common individual race.

Periodical Pes – pritel cloveka started to publish a wide serial about Flyball training. Some of pieces were published in periodical Svet psu and in journal Katka a reportage about Eager´s Cup was written.

In June a weekend for beginners in Kutna Hora took place and again a Flyball tournament in Letnany.

In July a 4-day concentration training for advanced was organized in Cesky Brod. 1 month later the 2nd Flyball tournament at occasion of Border Collies Days was organized.

In September the 2nd Czech Flyball Championschip took place in Nova Ves.

At the end of October three Czech teams took part at the 3. Gießener Flyball Cup in Germany. Our team Dream´s Family became the winner of 1st division, the second Czech team in this division - Hop Trop Prague - was 3rd.
